ts9015 300ma cmos ldo 0.9v adjustable voltage with enable function 3/5 version: c08 detailed description the ts9015 of cmos regulators contain a pmos pass t ransistor, voltage reference, error amplifier, over -current protection and thermal shutdown. during normal oper ation, the error amplifier compares the output volt age to a precision reference. over-current and thermal shutd own circuits become active when the junction temper ature exceeds 150 o c, or the current exceeds 300ma. during thermal shu tdown, the output voltage remains low. normal operation is restored when the junction temperature drops below 100 o c. the ts9015 switches from voltage mode to current mode when the load exceeds the rated out put current. external capacitors the ts9015 is stable with an output capacitor to gr ound of 2.2uf or greater. ceramic capacitors have t he lowest esr, and will offer the best ac performance. conver sely, aluminum electrolytic capacitors exhibit the highest esr, resulting in the poorest ac response. unfortunately , large value ceramic capacitors are comparatively expensive. one option is to parallel a 0.1uf ceramic capacitor with a 10uf aluminum electrolytic. the benefit is low esr, high capacitance, and low overall cost. a second capacit or is recommended between the input and ground to s tabilize v in . the input capacitor should be at least 0.1uf to h ave a beneficial effect. all capacitors should be placed in close proximity to the pins. a "quiet" ground termination is desira ble. this can be achieved with a "star" connection. enable the enable pin normally floats high. when actively, pulled low, the pmos pass transistor shuts off, an d all internal circuits are powered down. in this state, the quies cent current is less than 1ma. this pin behaves muc h like an electronic switch.
